Mari B. Rasmussen


Mari Rasmussen's commitment to teachers, students and multicultural communities can be seen in the enthusiasm she brings to her work in professional development. Mari has taught bilingual students at all levels, from kindergarten through adult. She has taught overseas, in addition to working in a variety of multicultural settings in the United States, including teaching in a migrant school, on a Native American reservation and working with new immigrants. Along with classroom teaching, Mari has implemented ELL and bilingual programming at the district and state level.

Because of her wide-range of experiences, Mari can adapt her workshops to the needs state administrators, school district administrators and teachers. She can also adjust to large and small school districts, along with understanding the unique needs of different student populations. She has a particular love of rural areas because of her North Dakota background.

Mari currently works on the national level with the National Clearinghouse for English Language Acquisition at the George Washington University in Washington, DC in addition teaching online courses for Valley City State University in North Dakota and training on WIDA's ELP Standards and assessments on a part time basis.

Mari has a Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning from the University of North Dakota, along with a Masters in Reading Education, licensure in ELL education, reading education, secondary English, elementary classroom, and art education.
