Tina Manning


Tina Manning is an educational consultant with over twenty years of experience in ESL, both as an ESL teacher in K-12 and as Lead ESL Teacher. Tina's presentations are driven by the conviction that staff development should be interactive, current and applicable to needs of the participants, and she delivers practical training that provides tools to improve ELL instruction. She is committed to tailoring presentations to the needs of each audience.

Tina has conducted annual training for the administration of the W-APT and ACCESS since the WIDA Standards were adopted for NC in 2008. She is experienced in presenting on the WIDA Standards and interpreting ACCESS Score Reports. She developed and presented training on how the WIDA Standards and the Common Core State Standards complement one another, and she has trained content area teachers on WIDA Standards and how to incorporate them into classroom instruction.

Tina served on the state level as a member of the LEP Testing Committee. From 2007-2012 she was a part of the NC Department of Public Instruction's Title III Compliance Monitoring of school systems across the state. As a member of the NC DPI SIOP Training team since 2007, Tina has been a part of the state team that conducts three day SIOP professional development in NC. In her role as Lead Teacher, Tina coordinated the ESL program for ESL teachers and paraprofessionals by providing supervision, staff development, instructional support and data management. She helped create an intake center for her school district, where she supervised the enrollment and W-APT testing of all second language students. She retired from her position as Lead ESL Teacher in 2012.
