Introduction to the WIDA ELD Standards

This introduction to the English Language Development Standards Framework is based on a student-centered, teacher-focused approach to engage English language learners (ELLs) in academic language development. This interactive workshop provides a foundation for participants who are new to the WIDA ELD Standards. They will engage in hands-on activities that explore academic language to enhance student language learning in the classroom. This workshop has been designed for K-12 teachers, language specialists, administrators, and support staff.

WIDA ELD Standards in Action: Differentiation

Recommended Time: 1 day
English language learners need instruction that is differentiated for their diverse proficiency levels. Participants will collaborate on how to customize instruction for ELLs utilizing WIDA tools while taking academic language into consideration. This workshop is appropriate for classroom teachers, English language specialists, administrators, curriculum development specialists, and support staff who are familiar with WIDA Standards.

ACCESS for ELLs Test Administration

Recommended Time: 1 day
ACCESS for ELLs is a standards-based summative assessment to determine academic language proficiency for ELLs. Participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of test administration, the underpinnings of the assessment and the resources available after the workshop. Particular attention will be given to the speaking assessment with practice items. This workshop has been designed for anyone who will be involved with test administration.

ACCESS for ELLs Score Report Interpretation

Recommended Time: 2-4 hours
Learn about each of the five ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports. The five reports include: Parent/Guardian, Teacher, Student Roster, School Frequency, and District Frequency. Participants will examine each report and discuss ways to share ACCESS for ELLs scores to support ELLs.

ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports for Instruction

The ACCESS for ELLs Score Reports provide specific information on students' academic English language proficiency. Participants will examine the different types of reports, their connection to the WIDA English Language Development Standards Framework, and how these reports can serve as a tool to initiate discussion on instruction. This workshop is appropriate for K-12 staff invested in the education of language learners.

W-APT Test Administration

The W-APT is a standards-based placement test to determine academic language proficiency for ELLs. Participants will work collaboratively to strengthen their understanding of test administration, the underpinnings of the assessment, and the resources available after the workshop. Particular attention will be given to the speaking and writing assessment with practice items. This workshop has been designed for anyone who will be involved with test administration.
